Dream Big!
“Dream Big!” is a project created entirely in Blender. Differing significantly from my other 3D project “Sterling”, this project didn’t involve 3D printing but included other rendering aspects such as animation production, proper camera angling, surface materials, texture, coloring, lighting, physics properties, etc. While brainstorming, I intuitively pictured a visual of inflated balloon-like text that would scale larger as the viewer trailed their eyes from start to finish. Thinking further, I wondered if it would be possible to create a more intricate, dynamic design in which the text first starts completely deflated and then inflates gradually through each letter as the phrase goes on. Being someone who gets fixated on problem solving, I was determined to find a way. After much trial and error, I was finally able to achieve my desired outcome.
Quickly elaborating on the production journey, I first started by selecting a balloon resembling text. Then, I transformed the text into a moldable mesh. Following the mesh conversion, I then applied a “collision” effector along with cloth physics properties. These were applied to the first three letters for a “sunken in/ deflated” appearance. After this step, I set a new cloth with differing physics properties in which the letters would start inflating at higher pressures from left to right. At the final stages, I worked with geometry nodes, shading attributes, environment textures, etc to create the exterior appearance of the model and scene.
Similar to the “Unlock Your Potential” project, “Dream Big!” releases a positive message, fueling motivation, while simultaneously adding a pop of fun.
